Ohio Gov. John Kasich says it is “very unlikely” that he would mount another campaign for the presidency in 2020.

The former Republican presidential candidate, appearing on a town hall with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday, said he did not have plans to run for office again, but did not rule it out completely when asked by the host.

“How do you close the door on anything?” Kasich said, stating that his wife would not be enthused about another campaign. “If I see something that I need to do to help my country that I really believe that I have to do, you know, I would think that I would probably do it.”

Kasich, whose second and final term as the state’s governor expires in 2019, sought the Republican presidential nomination last year, which was ultimately won by Donald Trump.

Kasich, a Trump critic, along with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, did not endorse his party’s nominee in the fall campaign.

Following his election, Trump successfully lobbied to have Kasich supporter Matt Borges removed as Ohio’s Republican chairman.

Kasich, who said he would give Trump a grade of “incomplete” for his first 100 days in office, said the president has shifted his views on issues such as NATO support, deportations and labeling China a currency manipulator to be more in line with his own after taking office.

“It’s interesting,” Kasich said in an interview this week with Business Insider, one of many in the media rounds to promote, “Two Paths: America Divided or United,” his new book on the campaign and current issues. “Never in my lifetime have I been called boring, but I think I was a boring candidate for president because I tried to be responsible.”
