Ironton girls beat Lady Pointers, 12-2

SOUTH POINT — Another game, another big offensive effort.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had 13 hits as they beat the South Point Lady Pointers 12-2 in six innings on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Ruth Paholsky was at it again as she went 3-3 with three RBI to lead the onslaught.
Aley Carmon was 2-2 with a double and three RBI, Mary Beth Burton was 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Kenzie Cremeens 2-3, and Haylee Stevens 2-4.
Peighton Rowe added a double.
South Point had six hits with Abby Hannah going 2-3 with a double and an RBI and Reece Duncan 2-3 with and RBI. Laken Adkins had a double.
Ironton (11-3) got three runs in the first inning on a single. Cremeens, Carmon was hit by a pitch, Paholsky walked, a wild pitch scored Cremeens and Taiya Hamlet had a two-run single.
The Lady Pointers got a run in the bottom of the inning on doubles by Adkins and Hannah.
Ironton answered with four runs in the second.
Stevens singled, Cremeens walked, Carmon and Paholsky singled and Hamlet reached on an error.
Two runs scored in the fourth when Rowe doubled, Cremeens singled, Carmon hit a sacrifice fly and Paholsky had an RBI single.
Ironton put the game away with three runs in the sixth.
Carmon doubled and Paholsky had an RBI single. Hamlet walked and Burton had a two-run double.
The Pointers final run came in the sixth when Holly Ramey was it by a pitch, moved up on a wild pitch and Reece Duncan singled.
Burton got the win as she struck out six and walked four.
On Friday, Ironton hosts Rock Hill and South Point goes to Coal Grove.
