Fletcher wins 400 to lead D3 regional qualifiers

CHILLICOTHE — Four for more.
The top four finishers in the Division III district track meet earn a berth in the regional meet on Wednesday at Lancaster Fairfield Union.
Several area track athletes get to run, jump and throw some more after qualifying in the second day of the district meet on Saturday.
Chesapeake Panthers’ Cecil Fletcher won the 400-meter dash with a 51.34 time as he makes his third straight trip to the regional meet in the event.
Fletcher was also third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.53 seconds to reach the regional meet.
The Coal Grove Hornets’ 4×100-meter relay team of Kyle Sites, Austin Stormes, Wyatt Boggs and Joey Workman ran a 45.74 to finish second and advance.
The Hornets’ 4×200 team of Nathaniel Brumett, Boggs, Sites and Workman was third with a 1:35.66 time to advance.
Sites was fourth in the 400 meters (52.87) to advance in that event. Chesapeake’s Josh Ramey was seventh (56.10) in the 400.
Rock Hill Redmen 800-meter runners Victor Aguilera was second with a 2:01.84 time and Chesapeake’s Gabriel Johnson was third at 2:03.94 as both got a regional berth.
The Redmen’s Jasson Aguilera was second in the 3200 meters with a 10:39.27 clocking to make the regional meet.
In the high jump, Chesapeake’s Dalton Nida was third at 6-3 and Rock Hill’s Andrew Cochran was fourth at 6-2. Coal Grove’s Joey Workman was fifth at 6-foot.
The Panthers’ David Dotson was fifth at 2:09.72 and Green’s Baley Derifield was sixth at 2:10.58.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Green’s Zach Huffman was fifth at 17.21 and Coal Grove’s Jed Whitworth sixth at 17.37.
Green’s Tyler Darnell was seventh in the 100 meters at 11.86 seconds. Darnell also joined Huffman, Aaron Johnson and Tyler Thorton to finish fifth in the 4×200 relay with a 1:38.31 time.
Alec Smith, Johnson, Thorton and Darnell ran a 47.32 and was seventh in the 4×100 relay. Thorton also ran a 1:03.51 and was eighth in the 400 meters.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Chesapeake’s Kamren Harless was seventh (44.29) and the Bobcats’ Huffman was seventh (44.48).
Green’s James Hallam was sixth in the 3200 meters at 11:28.17.
In the 4×400 relay, Rock Hill’s Gabe Kidd, Victor Aguilera, Cameron Barnette and Ethan Miller ran a 3:45.35 to place seventh and Coal Grove’s team of Dylan French, Sites, Brumett and Workman were eighth with a 3:46.81 time.
In the girls’ meet, Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ Kayla Curry advanced to the regional meet with a fourth-place finish in the discus at 103-02. Teammate Lauren Holliday was third in the pole vault at 8-6 to advance while the Lady Hornet’s Haley Frazier was sixth at 7-foot.
Green’s Kaylynn Blizzard was sixth in the 100-meter dash at 13.74 seconds and Coal Grove’s Emily Compliment eighth at 13.75.
Blizzard also placed eighth in the 200 meters (28.70).
Coal Grove’s Lauren Meyer, Jaida Smith, Lauren Holliday and Compliment was eighth in the 4×200 relay at 1:57.23.
Meyer, Smith, Compliment and Cecil ran a combined 54.24 to take seventh in the 4×100 relay. Cecil was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 49.57.
Compliment, Holliday, Cecil and Smith ran a 4:28.84 to finished sixth in the 4×400 relay.
Green’s Courtney Hammond was eighth in the 400-meter dash at 1:07.60.
Coal Grove’s Emileigh Bryant was eight in the discus at 96-05.
Wednesday’s regional qualifiers: Coal Grove’s Kimo Baldwin fourth in discus; Chesapeake’s Cecil Fletcher fourth in the long jump; Rock Hill’s Seth Baker third in pole vault; Chesapeake’s Brady Wilson fourth in pole vault; Rock Hill’s Victor Aguilera, Ethan Miller, Jasson Aguilera and Logan Boggs third in 4×800 relay.
