Kayaker spotted remains of male

SHERIDAN — Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies responded after a body was found on Sunday in the Sheridan area.

A kayaker spotted the body on the riverbank in the vicinity of McGinnis Inc. at 11 a.m., Sheriff Jeff Lawless said.

He said the police took a marine patrol boat and recovered the body of a male, following the report.

The Lawrence County Coroner also responded to the scene.

Lawless said the subject has been identified, but the name has not been released yet.
