Coal Grove golfers win tri-match

PINE GROVE —This was a match inside a match.
The Coal Grove Hornets battled past the Fairland Dragons by two shots to win a triangular golf match on Monday, and the Hornets’ Trevor Deere was locked up in a battle with Rock Hill Redmen golfer Logan Reed.
Coal Grove posted a 173 team score and Fairland 175 while Rock Hill finished at 192.
Reed took medalist honors with a 35 while Deere shot a 38. They were the only two golfers to break 40.
Besides Deere, Alex Gillette and Jed Whitworth each had a 44, Garrett Holiday a 47, Jake Sites 49 and Luke Thompson 61.
Reece Belleville led Fairland with a 41, Mikhail Auxier and Clayton Thomas each carded a 42, Mason Manns 50, Connor Franklin 51 and Hanna Shrout 53.
Jason Haywood shot a 50, Austin Riddle 52, Chase Nelson 55 and Isaiah McFann 56 to complete the Rock Hill scoring.
