Youthful Flyers get little of everything

The young St. Joseph Flyers did a little of everything last week.
The Flyers played three soccer game and posted a win, a loss and a tie.
After a 3-0 loss at Chesapeake on Wednesday, the Flyers came back to tie Fairland 2-2 on Thursday.
Jimmy Mahlmeister and Isaac Whaley each scored a goal for St. Joseph with Zach Roach and Whaley getting an assist.
Goalkeeper Jerod Johnson had six saves.
Devon Lucas and Trenton Baumguaurd scored the Fairland goals and goalie Ben Ward had seven saves.
The Flyers had 30 shots with nine on goal, six corner kicks and 10 fouls. Fairland had 13 shots with eight on goal, three corner kicks and one foul.
“This was our best effort of the year. Fairland is a very good team and both teams played well,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.
On Monday the Flyers rolled past the Northwest Mohawks 7-2.
Jackson Rowe and Mahlmeister had two goals each and Bryce Balestra added another. Josh Adams scored both goals for Northwest.
Flyers’ goalkeeper Dmitri Ward had six saves while Northwest goalie Ben McDonald had eight.
St. Joseph is now 2-2-2.
The Flyers’ jayvee team beat Chesapeake 2-0 and is now 4-0 on the year.
