PEDRO — The season is not over for the Rock Hill Redmen, but the Ohio Valley Conference soccer race is.
In just the second year of the program, Rock Hill blanked the South Point Pointers 2-0 on Saturday to win the OVC soccer championship.
“This is a great group of kids. Their work ethic, teamwork and resiliency is second to none. I’m so proud of what they have been able to accomplish,” said a beaming Redmen coach Luke Simpson.
“We’re so thankful for all the support our program has received to help build it to where it is right now.”
Rock Hill is now 8-0-2 on the season and 5-0-1 in the OVC.
Junior Victor Aguilera continued his scoring assault with his 65th career goal and he had an assist as freshman Mason Parkes scored his first career goal to account for the Rock Hill offense.
Aguilera scored in the first half and Parkes in the second half.
The goalkeeper tandem of Noah Roberts and Kaleb Kidd combined for 11 saves.
The Redmen traveled to Ashland on Monday and play at Mapfre Stadium — the home of the Columbus Crew — on Saturday against West Muskingum at 2:30 p.m. in the 2017 Elite Game Series.
