PEDRO — The Gallipolis Blue Devils found this game to be the right size.
The unbeaten Blue Devils’ big men Justin Peck and Zach Loveday combined for 30 points in an 82-35 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redmen on Tuesday.
Peck — a 6-foot-5 senior — scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures for Gallipolis (4-0, 1-0).
The 7-foot-1 Loveday had 13 points, Gage Harrison hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points while reserve Bailey Walker added 10 points.
Logan Hankins scored seven points for Rock Hill (0-4, 0-1) with Kadin France, Braden Stamper and Garrett Miller adding six each.
Gallipolis led just 14-12 after the first quarter as Evan Wiseman and Loveday had four points each. Rock Hill stayed close as Hankins and France scored four each.
The Blue Devils took charge in the second quarter by outscoring the Redmen 21-6 and it was 35-18 at the half.
Kaden Thomas scored seven of his nine points and Harrison drained a pair of 3-pointers to key the offense.
Rock Hill continued to struggle with its offense in the third quarter with just six more points including a 3-pointer by Miller off the bench.
Peck began to dominate inside as he scored 13 points while Loveday had seven including a 3-pointer and it was 59-24 at the end of the quarter.
Harrison knocked down another pair of 3-pointers, Cole Davis had one of his own and Walker came off the bench to score all 10 of his points.
Miller and Hankins had 3-pointers and Roberts got three more points for Rock Hill.
On Friday, Rock Hill visits Chesapeake and Gallipolis hosts Ironton.
