Meals on Wheels receives donation from Subaru
Published Tuesday, December 8, 2009
RUSSELL, Ky. — Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital’s (OLBH) Meals on Wheels program has received a $1,000 grant as a result of the Subaru “Share the Love” campaign.
“Share the Love” is a unique cause-related campaign that allowed Subaru new vehicle customers to select one of five charities to receive a $250 donation from Subaru of America.
The campaign raised $4.6 million dollars for the five charities, one of which was the Meals on Wheels Association of America, which then granted $1,000 of its award to the OLBH Meals on Wheels program.
OLBH assists with meals being delivered five days a week to elderly or disabled people with food prepared by a variety of vendors and delivered by volunteers.
OLBH’s local Meals on Wheels routes include the communities of Bellefonte, Burnaugh, Catlettsburg, Flatwoods, Russell, South Ashland, and Westwood, and which are served by the OLBH program, and Grayson, Greenup, South Shore and Worthington area volunteers coordinate programs to serve those areas with advisory support from OLBH.
To learn more about becoming a client or to volunteer for OLBH’s Meals on Wheels programs, call (606)-833-3398 or toll-free at 1-877-827-7012.

I know that I will strike a nerve with a lot of individuals when I say this. Is it fair to criticize a company for donating to a charity? Forget all the other personal feelings about non-US products being sold in America, and look at the article for what it is (a company donating to a charity). The bottom line on the rest of this stuff is that Subaru is selling cars in America. That means we get the tax money, we get the job of selling the cars, we get the jobs to perform maintenance on the cars, we sell the parts for the cars, etc., etc., etc. It isn’t like Americans are completely loosing here…

goybar... How much have YOU donated, loudmouth?
When was the last time YOUR lazy bigmouth drove meals to people? How much money have YOU given to help the elderly needy?
SHUT UP!!! Anyone who criticizes someone for donating to charity is a stupid fool who does not deserve to call himself an American.
Sit down and SHUT the hell UP... no one wants to hear from the likes of you.

No, I drive a Ford Five Hundred and a Chevy Cavalier, punk.
What kind of scumbag are you that you think it's so bad to donate to charity?
My household income is over $100,000 this year... What's your point?
Everything handed to me? Because I think charity is a good thing? You have some serious problems. Crawl back into your beer and oxy bottles and drug yourself up.
You're one of those who believes charity is only good if you're getting something out of it.
Guess I hit a nerve too. You never did answer how much of anything you have given to charity this year. Your failure to answer tells me you're just ANOTHER welfare bum, smoking your $5 a pack cigarettes, living in your section 8/HUD housing, letting the working folks pay for your internet time.

LOL... Two kids, both mine. Husband is a department director in a local hospital.
LOL!! You are the one whining about a company giving money to a charity, not me. You're the pervert here, sonny.
I'm not the one COMPLAINING because someone gave money to a charity.
By the way, I don't see any AMERICAN car companies donating to Meals on Wheels or any OTHER charity around here.... So, whine about the Japanese cars all you want, welfare loser, but THEY are the ones donating the cash, not the American car makers.
Now, go change your Depends, light up another of those welfare purchased smokes, sit down in your section 8 paid for apartment, in front of your tv with some of those foodstamp chips and be quiet.

As long as I'm the one spending his paycheck, NOT living on welfare and oxycontin, I don't really care what he has at the hospital.
We've worked damn hard over the last 20 years to get where we are. We DESERVE what we get. Tell me, how does it feel to be a welfare mooch who depends on the state and can't own anything or have any kind of savings or retirment accounts?
