A water main break in the north side of Ironton is causing water woes for the area. A boil water advisory is in effect for the north end of the city as a precaution after a water main break at the 600th block of Mill Street, Karl Wentz, temporary supervisor of water distribution for the city, said.

The north end is considered to be everything from Center Street towards Portsmouth, Wentz said.

The break happened Saturday night around 10 p.m. and was repaired Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

The advisory is scheduled to be in effect until Tuesday morning, Wentz said.
