A dream will become a reality on the Dream Court.

Volunteer Dean McDonald said this year’s Gus Macker Tournament will feature a challenger division for players from Tri-State Industries and Open Door School.

The teams will play starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday on the Dream Court. And just like the main tournaments, all players will be introduced.

The tournament is held on the downtown streets of Ironton.

“This puts them in the spotlight. We think it’s something that is well-deserved,” said McDonald.

A total of 32 boys and girls will comprise four 4-man teams who will play a round robin tournament.

Efforts to form the special division in the past didn’t materialize. But with the work of Jim Robinson and Shawn Thacker of the Lawrence County MRDD, the tournament became a reality.

“We tried to put it together before, but the guys at Tri-State Industries did a real good job putting it together,” said McDonald.
