Drug trafficker sentenced to four years in prison
Published Thursday, November 5, 2009
One of more than 20 people arrested in a drug sweep pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Linda Rosebrough, 59, of 2506 S. Fourth St., Ironton, had been charged with five counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs and one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs.
Judge Charles Cooper sentenced her to four years in prison and suspended her driver’s license for two years.
“Maybe all of this saved my life and maybe probation will, too.” Rosebrough told Cooper.
Also Wednesday, Jacob Hankins, 21, of 802 Pike St., Coal Grove, admitted he violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer. Cooper sentenced him to one year in prison and ordered him to pay a $1,250 fine.
Hankins’ attorney, Warren Morford, told Cooper that although Hankins has made mistakes he is also doing some things right: Hankins completed a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center and is enrolled in college.
“He’d like to get this matter put behind him and get on with his education and his life,” Morford said.
In another case, Aaron Pemberton Jr., 35, of 85 Private Drive 268, South Point, admitted he violated his probation when he was arrested on a shoplifting charge in Boyd County, Ky. Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Jeff Smith told Judge D. Scott
Bowling this is the second time Pemberton had violated his probation. He said Pemberton has also failed to pay restitution from an earlier court case. Bowling sentenced him to 7 months in prison.

OK, it says Rosebrough got 4 yrs, but thinks probation will save her? is she going to jail or getting probation? Same with Hankins, he is given a year in prison but wants to finish college? which is it? Are they actually getting jail time or is something missing from this report? Or are those two just wishing they got probation instead of jail? Maybe the new counsel woman will get the Tribune to be more clear on it's stories.

A bunch of dope addicted fiends. At 59, she should know better. What a pitiful excuse for someone almost 60.

Probation wouldn't do Linda Rosebrough any good! She has been into this stuff for years and she has been locked up several times, too. She wore a wire to get herself out of trouble before, and sent others to prison for doing the same thing she was doing. I know, she sent my brother. Good riddance to trash. I'm glad to see her doing her own time for once instead of working a deal

Deb , After reading your comment I'm wondering what would that make your brother & yourself ?

Is it just me or does anyone else notice that 4 years is pretty much the standard sentence for drugs here?
Posted by cg88 (anonymous) on November 5, 2009 at 9:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)
not much of a sentence wont she get out in 2 for good behavior ?

To fallinrock, you are right about my brother. He was a drug addict and he died this year at a very young age because of drugs. And that makes me a person that hates drugs and anyone that supplies them. These people don't care what this does to families. Most of these names you see in the newspaper I have heard from my brother. Plus quite a few more that haven't made it in there yet but I am hoping. I didn't agree with what my brother done but I will miss him for the rest of my life.

Deb, excellent response. Sorry for your loss. It sounds like you are not making excuses for your brother, and you are not your brother. Good luck and keep a good attitude.

a disease that you can't catch if you have self control and just say no. it is a choice and a sin. The Ama just want to make insurance money out of the disease.

FALINROK... What a stupid ..stupid comment you made toward DEB! It's this exact reason and ppl like you that have brought society to the extreme negative that it is now. I bet you felt like an IDIOT when you read her response and learned that her brother has passed from a horrible tragedy and that in turn has made her a BETTER person. I agree with most of these comments, I hope all the drugs are off the street and the people with the DISEASE of ADDICTION get the proper attention needed be it prision rehab or whatever. BUT these addicts, as you have learned, have family's they are mother's, father's, brother's, sister's, aunt's, uncle's and thier family's are victims also! To imply that DEB might be someone not to your standard's bc she knows someone with a drug problem is ludacis and in my book makes you a very SMALL minded indivisual. HEY, that's just MY opinion.

Falinrok - they have never proved it was a disease. They only call it thus to get insurance money to pay for the treatment. They have never singled out the gene. Now these dope fiends have something to blame their selfishness and lack of will power on. It is their (lol) disease.
Nobody forced these weak willed, live for the moment, self glorifying fiends to take the drugs. They take it because they like the high and only think of themselves. Yes they have family, but in their pursuit of getting high, they could care less about family. Only when family or the law catches them do they cry and carry on like the immature people they are.
Of course, their families also have an excuse to avoid family shame. Their kid has a disease, but they come from a good family. Hey they don't even have cancer or any other real disease. I wish there was a pill to make them and their so-called good families grow up, act like adults, accept the blame, accept their consequences and get on with life without being a burden to others, the welfare system, the law and the medical community.
They are a drain on everybody and I, for one, am very sick (no not a disease) of thier childish behaviour and that of their kin.
Excuses excuses -- grow up

Lucy , no i dont feel a bit bad for my comment , her loss yes , my comment , no. P.S. proof read what you type & correct your spelling, it makes you look foolish & uneducated. John_mush . looking for that magic fix all pill is what got all these people in this mess to begin with.

To falinrock: I hope your family is never hit with this. If you was, you would feel the same way I do

falinrock, what LUCYNTHESKY wrote did not make her look nearly as foolish and uneducated as your comment to her.

Deb , everyone's family has been hit with drug abuse in some form. Mine is no different. I went to my first friends funeral at the age of 13 that died from an OD. That was the first of many. I feel more enraged than anyone here about drug abuse. I have zero sympathy for dealers & suppliers. I'm not going to go on like an idiot & say lock em up & throw away the key or any other over used phrase. But i will say this. ALL of them should thank there creator that i'm not on the bench when there tried. DEATH TO ALL THE SONS A BITCHES !

falinrok,
I was speaking tongue in cheek. I know that there isn't a magic pill.

Deb
Life is tough. You reap what you sow for the most part. It is no accident or a disease that makes people dopers. It is their desire to escape their surroundings and they like the feel. The problem is that they hurt all regardless if they are kin or strangers.
I don't feel sorry for the dope fiends. I think most of them and their families want to take away all cupability and shame and turn things around by playing victims and martyrs. The fact is they and they alone are the ones to blame. They don't have the moral backbone, maturity or respect to others to accept it.
When they get caught oh how they cry. It is their addiction, or they need to care for their families, finish school or whatever. What they need to do is show some maturity. Let’s hope they get the help (and punishment) they deserve.
They really need the grace of God to live as an adult, a good citizen and a good family member, They need to stop playing the victim and seek help from the mercy of God. Jesus will give it. Until then, I don't expect anything more than excuses, whining, continued immature behaviours and family members getting enraged if somebody dares asks them for justice and accountability.

Deb don't pay no attention to mushroomhead and falinkok. they would'nt know compasion if it bit them in the butt. I bet both of these guys could tell you every name scribbled on the drunk tank wall at the county jail though. People like them seem to think if you have ever smoked a joint your trash but its perfectly fine to go to frog town sat night, get drunk, wipe out 5 cars driving home then go in the house and beat up the wife. I am also sad to here about your brother. You are also so right about Rosenbrough. They should make her the poster child for before drugs and after. After I thought about it I guess not, she has always looked the same.

Buck
stop you false accusations. I can see you are weak by your replies without merit. What is the matter. Your good family is morraly weak. Misery loves company? What
If I had been dumb and weak enough to do something as ignorant as drugs, I sure wouldn't go into a public forum crying about being a victim in hopes of turning people to feel sorry for me. I also wouldn't blame others for what I brought on myself.
Buck, you need to grow up and stop the lies. Do you realize how ignorant your posting was. it is feeble minded people who can only fight with lies that allows this society of so -called victims to exist. if you and the rest of these whinners used their energy and time to do what is right, then we would have a good society and family. But no, they, like you can only name call , lie and blame others for their disgusting lifestyle.
Buck - look at yourself and grow up. Buck, what is your education level. Your income level?
I don't really see you as a constructive member of society just another crybaby crying victim. I would like to be proved wrong, but I doubt it. But I am sure you are from a good family. Heck all irontonians/ lawrence countians are from good families or they are quick to tell you they are.
it is a cheap cliche which they use when they do that which is immature, illegal and morrally depraved. You fit right in.

MAN, I THINK I STRUCK A NERVE. Let me tell you two idiots a little something. I doubt they are many people that is as conservative as me. I have NO compassion for these dealers. I am sick of everything that is going on in in this town and country. But this poor girl lost her brother to drugs and was'nt defending this trash but you two heartless nuts could'nt wait to make your "very stupid" remarks. Iam new on here but have been reading for awhile. and most of the comments made by you two have been smarta$$ wisecracks. You two remind me of a couple of grade school kids I knew and kicked their butts when I was young. They could sure dish it out. but could'nt take it.

the only thing you struck was a gong for immaturity. If you can't namecall, you have no valid conversation. I believe my hunch is right that you are not a productive member of society. You are just another whiner whinning about how unfair life is and how everybody else is to blame for your lot.

Hey John M, I know life is tough, who said it wasn't? I am not on here whining or playing a victim either. I also know that bad things happen to good people and I know that drug addicts can come from good families . I know what drug addiction does to a person. You get an addict that needs drugs, and there is no low that is too low to stoop to . Believe me, I have seen it first hand. I would have much rather seen my brother in prison than in
the cemetary, so arrest the dealers and get the drugs off the street. And Doctors-oxycontin and dilaudid should be used for endstage cancer, stop writing it for every little ache and pain. There is very few pharmacy robberies in contrast to how much of these drugs are on the street, so it is doctors writing the scripts. Everyone get together and start fighting this! If you know someone selling pills, turn em in! If you know someone is buying pills or a doctor writing a lot of scripts for this stuff, tip off the drug task force. This is an ongoing war, us against them!
The people that have been arrested are just a drop in the bucket. My brother didn't have his own prescriptions. He got the drugs from the pushers, especially the one living on Lawrence street that was arrested a couple weeks ago, I am eagerly awaiting his sentencing, too.

Well Linda sentencing now. What a slap on the wrist. She should be charged as a repeat felon offender. Has this town ever heard of 3 strikes and you are out!! She has many felonies and only 4 years. It should be more. And by the way Linda since when do you tell the Judge what to do? What a messed up person. The only thing can save people like her is God. He has been knocking at her door but she doesn't answer. One day the Lord will ask her on judgement day what she has done with her life and what will she say, busy doing drugs and wondering where her next high was coming from .Thank the Lord I was raised by God fearing parents who love the Lord and taught good values and principals in life. I get to say what a joy it is to serve the LORD!! I know where I am going when I leave this life and the Lord calls me home. THINK ABOUT IT LINDA and look at you life and what it has become. You look like you are 80 years old. That is what crack does and pills. It destroys families and everyone it comes around.

LOL.. Coming back and reading these comments since I last was here has proven my point. Falinrok , John M , perfect examples of why the world has became what it is today. I will not come to your level and argue like a CHILD by someone else's misery! It's obvious who's in the right and who's in the wrong here.. LOL Judging by these comments MAJORITY RULES: YOU 2 ARE IDIOTS! But by all means, Thanks for amusing us. Have a Great Day!
