Lawrence County's Most Wanted

Published Monday, November 9, 2009

A clean sweep.

Four people listed as Most Wanted probation violators in The Tribune’s Nov. 2 edition were caught by the time the week came to an end, Lawrence County Adult Probation Agency officials said Friday.

Chief Probation Officer Carl Bowen II said Beverly Singer, 29, of Ashland, Ky., was arrested at a house in Proctorville by the Proctorville Police Department. Someone had called the APA office with a tip that Singer was in that village and he then notified Proctorville Police Chief Bill Murphy for assistance. Bowen said he appreciates the cooperation he gets from all area law enforcement.

“I called Chief Murphy and told him what we had and he went and picked her up.”

Also, Kentucky authorities notified Lawrence County officials that Leonard Vaughn, 38, is in jail in Breckenridge County, Ky., in the northwestern end of the state.

Ted E. Arrington 32, of Chesapeake, was arrested in Chesapeake.

“He knew we were looking for him, He told me he had seen the paper,” Bowen said. “One interesting fact: All of the people we’ve found have either told us they saw the Most Wanted story in the paper or somebody has told them about it. I think that’s very interesting.”

Wilbur Stapleton, 23, beat authorities to the punch by turning himself in. Probation Officer Lynn Sergeant said authorities had visited four places looking for Stapleton before he called and surrendered.

“Every place we went, we told them (friends and family) he needed to turn himself in,” Sergeant said. Stapleton apparently got the message.

Bowen and Sergeant said these and other apprehensions have been made with the help of area law enforcement agencies, including the Chesapeake, South Point and Proctorville police and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

They praised these agencies for their assistance in searching for and apprehending probation violators.

As for this week, the four Most Wanted probation violators are:

— Paul Rockel, 24, is on probation for a burglary conviction. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall, 250 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

— Dale Baker, 44, is probation for a drug conviction. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall with brown hair and green eyes.

— Buddy Hardy, 26, was last known to be living in Chesapeake. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall, 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is on probation for an earlier conviction on aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

— Tammy Pine McGlone, 24, was last known to be living in Chesapeake. She is on probation for a drug conviction. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, 150 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information about these people may call the Adult Probation Agency at (740) 533-4380 or (740) 533-4423. Tips may be left anonymously.

If Buddy Hardy is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 115 pounds they better check behind all of the telephone poles in the county.

Sure wish I would see the pictures of the people that robbed & torched our home in Kitts Hill on one of these pages. Its been a few years ago but the case goes on & on. I'll sure bet the many other victims would like to see the same. I guess these guys still brag about all this while avoiding jail. I completely understand with the above.

Thunder1 i'm the "punk" you're talking about, but I'm curious. What are you talking about with these cases on hold? I'm turning myself in today so I may never know. But I truly don't know what you're talking about.

how can the tribune allow these people to make slanderess statements concerning individuals who they say is selling drugs and also telling where they live. I would think twice about allowing comments accusing people of a crime and where they live. Anyone could accuse a neighbor or someone they dislike for anything and you will print it. I think the tribune should scrutinize the comments of an article and not allow random accusations of citizens.
