CG girls get win over Redwomen

COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets went four to make it three.
The Lady Hornets won in four sets over the Rock Hill Redwomen on Thursday and improved to 3-0 on the season.
In four tough games, Coal Grove won the Ohio Valley Conference match 25-22, 24-26, 26-24 and 25-15.
Chelsea Delong led the Lady Hornets with 23 points and 9 kills. Allie Bentley had 20 points and Marrissa Stevens 17 points including 7 aces.
Kelly McMackin had 16 points and Haley Johnson added 11 points — all aces — for the Lady Hornets.
In the reserve match, Coal Grove won 25-11, 25-13. Cami Hillier had 16 points including 6 aces, Taylor Fleming scored 12 points, Ashley Adkins had 10 points with 5 aces and Darrien Hankins added 7 points.
Coal Grove plays at South Point Tuesday in a league match.
RV edges Fairland
CHESHIRE — Now, that was a volleyball match.
The River Valley Lady Raiders escaped with a four-set win over the Fairland Lady Dragons Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference match, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-21.
Kamren Mendoza had an amazing offensive performance with 35 points including 11 aces. Cori Gaeger had 14 points and Kennon Clarkson added 13 digs.
Chyna Mershon had 12 points to lead River Valley.
Fairland hosts Rock Hill in a conference game Tuesday.
