An Ironton woman was taken by helicopter to a West Virginia hospital Sunday following an accident on Township Road 143, also known as Radio Park Road.
According to information from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Beulah Comer, 57, of South Third Street, apparently lost control of her Ford Festiva, went off the left side of the road, struck an embankment twice and came to rest in a suspended position partly in a ditch and partly in the roadway.
Upper Township and Coal Grove firefighters were called to stabilize the vehicle. Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services personnel treated Comer at the scene before she was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
The accident happened at approximately 12:35 p.m.
