What is this?
ACLU fighting for our fundamental rights
Published Sunday, March 7, 2010
The syndicated story criticizing the ACLU’s request for documents relating to the federal government’s use of drones was grossly off-base (“ACLU has strayed far from its mission,” February 19, 2010.)
The ACLU has had a long history of ensuring government officials do not operate in the shadows and are subject to full accountability from the American people.
The right to know is perhaps one of the most fundamental rights granted under the Constitution. In order for democracy to function, the people must have unfettered access to information about government programs, policies and actions. Without consistent oversight from the people, there is a greater chance of corruption, wrongdoing or negligence.
In addition to advocating for full government transparency, the ACLU continues to address a variety of civil liberties issues in the courts, legislature and community.
Recently, the ACLU filed a legal brief in the Ohio Supreme Court arguing that cell phones cannot be randomly searched by police officers. The Court made a landmark ruling in the ACLU’s favor in late December 2009.
As the nation’s oldest civil liberties organization, the ACLU has long been on the forefront in the fight for fairness, privacy and accountability. While the nation, courts, and lawmakers may change over the years, the fundamental rights we defend do not.

Oh B.S.!!! The ACLU has no business sticking it's nose into the fight against terrorism overseas. Especially since it's happening in Pakistan and it doesn't involve attacking American citizens.

Nowhere in this article does it say anything about overseas wars. It says transparency....something you rag heads want so long as it has nothing to do with national security, wars, corporate welfare, tax breaks for the rich, or new defense spending.
Shut up Noesis....your such a fool

Jon the Drones are not being used in our country. It may not have stated. That is what she meant the ACLU strayed. In this case Noesis is right.

The ACLU is the mouthpiece for their biggest donors. They could care less who or what they go after, as long as they act according to the wishes of the big dollars.
Also, maybe we should go back to a battery of howitzers and obliterate a square mile area to insure we hit the target. What's a few less men, woman, children, goats, cows dogs and chickens,as long as we hit the target.
Or maybe b-52 bombing runs would do the trick. A 500 pounder shakes the ground though and would wake up the lawyers, plus it's a pain to fill in the holes later.

I have reservations concerning the ACLU and question their competency, interest and concern not to mention their intelligence and wisdom.

I think the basic premise for the ACLU is on target, but they remind me of the movie, Monty Python's Life of Brian. They are the People's Front of Judea. They over analyze everything to decide what stance they will take. I will somewhat agree with mike, and completely agree with mick on this one. I think they contradict themselves way too much. They are definitely nonpartisan though, because they are all over the map with what they fight for. Didn't they once fight for someone's civil liberties that wanted to take them down or something?

The ACLU selectively fights for rights. Defends enemies of our nation, never defends the Second Amendment, never sees a nativity scene or cross it doesn't want to rid us of, and does all this at taxpayers expense. They should stay the hell out of local afairs.
