The Dragons banged out 13 hits en route to a 17-0 whitewash of the South Gallia Rebels Wednesday.

"It was a good opportunity for us to get some swings in during game conditions," said Fairland coach Roger Snyder. "We know it’s going to get tougher as we go, so we just need to get better."

Fairland, 2-0, was led by Jeremy Louden who went 3-3 with a triple and two runs batted in. Stuart Shepherd was 2-3 with three RBI, and Nick Jones was 2-3 with a home run.

The Dragons got two runs in the first.

Louden singled, Greg Johnson hit into a fielder’s choice, stole second, Brad Shortridge walked, and, after an error, Johnson scored on Rick Pauley’s sacrifice fly. Shepherd’s base hit scored Shortridge.

The lead went to 3-0 in the second with one out as Louden singled, stole second, and came home on a dropped fly ball.

The Dragons erupted for 12 runs starting with Jones’ lead off home run. Louden and Shepherd had two-run singles to highlight the uprising.

The final two runs scored in the fourth on five walks.

Pauley went the first three innings to get the win. Shepherd finished up the final two innings
