KELLEY’S BRIDGE — Irvin W. Henderson, 75, of Kelley’s Bridge, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at his home. He was born July 8, 1933, in Lawrence County, the son of the late Bill and Roxie Wilson Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence Besco Henderson, whom he married July 1, 1955.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired custodian from the Rock Hill School District.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and Owen Henderson; a stepson, Ronald Hutchison; and two daughters-in-law, Paula Henderson and Dianna Hutchison.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Mark Monnig; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Henderson; a son, Tom Henderson; stepchildren, Gilda Durham, Danny Hutchison and O’Dessia and Don Kline; a sister, Betty Craig; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren

Betty Taylor

Sept. 26, 1936-Aug. 26, 2008

KITTS HILL — Betty Jean Johnson Taylor, 71, of Kitts Hill, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W. Va. The Pedro native was born Sept. 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Roy and Catherine Hieronimus Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Carl R. Taylor, whom she married Dec. 21, 1953.

She was a former glove lacer for Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton for 10 years. She was a member of Myrtle Tree Baptist Church and was a graduate of Waterloo Schools.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Johnson; and a sister, Neva Carter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law: Dawn Cecil of Kitts Hill, Tammy and Ray Sweeney of Wheelersburg, Jeana and Harry Wigglesworth of Columbus, and Jan and Tony Knipp of Ironton; two sisters, Freda Cottrell of Gallipolis and Jerri Hewett of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Hatfield Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

SOUTH POINT — Rebecca Nance, 56, of South Point, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

Alonzo Morris, 71, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at his residence. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky. Burial will follow in McGuire Cemetery in Greenup, Ky. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
