The Georgetown (Ky.) Tigers lived up to their ranking as they used a strong second half to beat the Ohio Southern Trailblazers 108-54 Wednesday night at the Ironton Sports Center.
Ohio Southern trailed just 42-32 at the break, but the effects of a Tuesday night road game came to light the second half as Georgetown outscored the Trailblazers 66-22.
Mark Williams led the Tigers with 21 points while 6-foot-8 Todd Cox scored 18. Will Carlton, a 6-9 forward, had 13 points and 6-10 center Julian Bankston added 11.
Andrew Stevens was the only OUSC player in double figures as he scored 18 points. Derek Combs chipped in 9 points.
Williams scored 17 points and Carlton got 8 as Georgetown took its 10-point halftime lead. Stevens had 13 points and Kevin Wells got all 7 of his points to keep the Trailblazers close.
But Cox scored 16 points and Bankston 9 to lead the second half onslaught.
Ohio Southern, 3-2, hosts Miami University-Hamilton at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ironton Sports Center.
