The Redmen picked up another win Friday night and it was the defense that was at the heart of the effort as Rock Hill knocked off the South Point Pointers 55-40 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"We got after it. We just did a great job defensively. Our intensity level was out of sight," said Scarberry. "Brent McCoy, David Large, and Billy Mullins played great. Brian Tennant did a great job on the boards, Tanner Heaberlin played well inside, and Dave Schug came off the bench and did things a freshman doesn’t do. He did some good things with the ball."

With the offense shooting 20-of-35 from the field for a sizzling 57 percent, Rock Hill had four players in double figures led by McCoy with 15 points. Heaberlin had a season-high 12 points, Mullins also had 12 points, and Tennant had 11 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.

B. J. Ferrell had 14 points to lead South Point, 4-4 and 0-2 in the OVC.

Pointers coach Mark Lafon praised the Redmen but shook his head as his team’s effort.

"I’m not going to take anything from them. They played hard and with great intensity. They boxed out well. It was text book. We were one (shot) and done. They did a great job," Lafon said. "But we gave no effort all night. I don’t know what happened to us out there."

Rock Hill jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back. Heaberlin had 6 points in the quarter as the Redmen built a 20-4 first quarter lead.

The Redmen were up 30-11 at the half and then McCoy and Mullins combined for 11 points the third quarter as the lead grew to 46-24.

Rock Hill improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the league.

"That was a big game for us. If you’re going to win the league, you have to win on the road. I was really proud of our kids. In my 10 or 11 years here, I’ve never had a team get after it defensively like this team did tonight," Scarberry said.

In the reserve game, Rock Hill won 46-44 as Ryan Music scored 15 and Isaac Kitchen 10. Bryan Maggard had 16 and Donte Penninton 10 for the Pointers.
