The Pointers erupted the second quarter for 31 points and soared past the Rock Hill Redmen 94-61 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"We played with a lot of emotion and our kids didn’t let up. Once they got the lead, they just took off," Pointers coach Mark Lafon said.

Brian Cremeans hit five 3-pointers as he scored 19 points to lead five Pointers in double figures.

Jarred Perdue had 17 points and nine rebounds. Willie Anderson and Shane Holsinger 14 points each, and B. J. Ferrell 13 points and eight assists.

Rock Hill was led by Brent McCoy with 19 points. Tanner Heaberlin added 12 points and Brian Tennant had 10 points and nine rebounds. David Large had four assists.

South Point improved to 6-10 and 2-4 in the conference. Rock Hill fell to 6-9 and 2-4.

The Pointers were 35 of 66 from the field for 53 percent and held a 39-28 rebounding advantage.

"We finally outrebounded someone in convincing fashion," Lafon said.

After a 17-17 first quarter, South Point used three 3-pointers by Cremeans to outscore the Redmen 31-16 the second quarter and take a 48-33 halftime lead.

Holsinger got hot the third quarter as he scored 12 points including a pair of 3-pointers as the Pointers pulled away to a 71-46 lead.

"We jumped out on them, but the big thing was holding them to 13 and then we got on a roll," said Lafon. "We didn’t want to come out sluggish to start the half, but we did. Then Shane hit a couple of 3’s and we took off."

On Tuesday, South Point plays at Ironton while Rock Hill hosts Oak Hill in non-league games.
