SOUTH POINT – Aerosmith once sang, "Walk This Way." The Chesapeake Panthers must like that song.

The Panthers had only three hits but took advantage of eight walks as they beat the South Point Pointers 6-3 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Andy Clark picked up the win for the Panthers as he struck out eight and walked just three.

South Point used three pitchers who combined for 10 strikeouts, six by reliever Jared Waggoner. Starter Jamie Douglas took the loss.

Chesapeake got off to a 3-0 lead in the first on just one hit.

Adam Pemberton walked and went to third on a wild pickoff throw. Clark walked and stole second and two wild pitches scored the runners.

Zeb Best then reached on an error, stole second, Noah Phillips walked, and Todd Bell had a base hit to drive in the run.

South Point came back with a run in the bottom of the inning when Justin Eaches walked, Waggoner singled, B. J. Belville hit into a fielder’s choice, and Brian Cremeans had a run-scoring base hit.

Joey Macri walked to start the Panthers two-run second, moved up on a wild pitch, Best walked with two outs, a wild pitch moved the runners up, and Phillips had a two-run single.

Dick Weaver walked and Shane Fuller slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the second to get South Point within 5-3.

Chesapeake added an insurance run in the fourth when Best walked with two outs, stole second, and Phillips singled in the final run.

Phillips went 2-for-3 to lead the Panthers offense.

South Point, 7-3 and 4-2 in the OVC, plays at Rock Hill Thursday. Chesapeake is 2-7 and 2-2 in the league.
