Kristi Dixon and son, Zachary, above, laugh and play with dogs Friday at the Lawrence County Humane Society’s Animal Abuse and Adoption Center in Ironton. The family was searching for "another puppy" to adopt, Mrs. Dixon said. Many dogs are gentle, good with children and would make a great addition to a home. During next month’s Adoptathon, visitors can come to the shelter from noon to midnight the next day to find a new friend.
