Owens went four innings for the win as he struck out five and walked five. Corn finished up for the save, fanning four and walking one.

Owens and Justin Myers did their own double team at the plate. Both homered and drove in two runs.

"Anthony Owens and Adam Corn did a good job for us on the mound. The defense was a little shaky at times, but we’re not making the big mistake. We’re starting to play better defense," Vikings coach Rusty Webb said.

"Anthony and Justin did a nice job at the plate getting runs for us when we needed them."

The Vikings snapped a scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning.

Billy McCarty walked to start the inning, moved up on a wild pitch, and scored on Jeremy Simpson’s base hit.

Owens hit a two-run homer and Myers followed with a solo shot.

Notre Dame scored twice in the fourth to make it 4-2.

Rammell singled, Graf was safe on a fielder’s choice, Webb and Malone walked to load the bases, and Pieron walked to force in a run. An errant pickoff throw allowed a run to score.

The Vikings got a run in the fifth when McCarty was hit by a pitch, Simpson put down a sacrifice bunt, Jeff Ralph and Owens walked to load the bases, and Myers hit a sacrifice fly.

Montavon hit a pinch-hit leadoff home run in the seventh to get the Titans within 5-3.

Symmes Valley, 8-2 and 7-0 in the SOC, plays at Portsmouth Clay Wednesday in a league game.
