Aid – Waterford was unbeaten. That didn’t seem to bother Kim Frye. The Chesapeake Lady Panthers righthanded pitcher fired a one-hitter Saturday in a 3-1 win over the previously unbeaten Waterford in the Symmes Valley Tournament.

Frye struck out 15 and walked just one in going the distance.

"Kim rang up 15 (strikeouts) and was near perfect," Panthers coach Robb Morrison said. "They get one on by error and the next girl doubles her in and that’s it. They only had two more base runners. She was in control.

"We lose 14-1 to South Point Friday night with seven errors and then come back with this effort today."

Waterford, 16-1, took a 1-0 lead in the first and held the lead until Chesapeake scored three times in the sixth.

Emily Delimpo led off with a single, moved to third on two wild pitches, and scored on a one-out single to right field by Kristen Huff.

Frye tripled home Huff and Jessica Hall followed with a sacrifice fly to cap the rally.

Chesapeake lost a heartbreaker in the second game to South Webster, 2-1.

The Lady Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Hall reached on an error, and Shelli White and Kristen Thacker both singled.

Moore tripled and Clark singled as the Lady Jeeps tied the game in the fifth.

The Lady Jeeps won the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Shuff doubled to start the rally, and with one out Clark reached on an error. Then with two outs and the bases load, Faulkner singled just behind second base to score the winning run.

"It was just one of those hits that went somewhere where nobody was at," said Morrison.

Chesapeake, 13-5, plays at South Point in a key OVC game Monday.
