Everyone in Lawrence County is worried about the future of this area. Recent announcements of job losses and plant closings have caused many to call for renewed economic development efforts.
Help has been dispatched from the Ohio Department of Development and now Liebert Corp. is bringing new jobs into the city.
And this week, CME North American Merchant Energy LLC announced that it is considering locating a power plant in the Hamilton Township area.
Although the company has expressed great interest in the area, there are still some details to work out, so the announcement of the $400 million investment is a little premature.
But, maybe this time,we can help make a difference.
The company is interested in gauging community support for the project and is planning to talk with officials and residents.
Let’s not wait for them to ask.
If you, like most residents, want to see a $400 million investment in this county, send CME a letter, a note, a postcard, anything you want to let the company know they would be a welcome addition to our community.
Your note doesn’t have to be long, or fancy. It doesn’t have to be typed or on a business letterhead. And, most importantly, you don’t have to be a county official to be a part of this effort to bring some new jobs home.
Send your note to the company’s field office: CME North American Merchant Energy LLC, P.O. Box 90, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
This initial investment in Lawrence County could bring much more good news in the very near future. Let’s not just sit back and wait for local and state economic development officials to get the deal signed. Let’s be a part of bringing something good into our community.
All it will take is 10 minutes and a 33-cent stamp.
