The South Point Industrial Park is a little closer to reality with the announcement of more than $200,000 on the way from the State Controlling Board to be used to purchase 504 acres of land for the project.

When the money is in hand and the land purchased, the county can then get busy on its next job – signing businesses up to bring more jobs to the area.

The Liebert Corp.’s successful recruitment to Ironton proves that there is still plenty of reason to be optimistic about this region’s ability to bounce back, even after a pretty tough break.

Above its original estimate of the jobs it will bring to the county, Liebert is already talking about the possibility of expanding its workforce again.

Businesses are already lining up to be part of the South Point project and more announcements are expected on the west end of the county soon.

With all this good news, now is the perfect time to really push the region’s economic possibilities and to take advantage of pre-General Election congenialty from both parties and ask for assistance in the form of grants and tax incentives.

Lawrence County’s future is indeed bright. All you have to do is look above the immediate haze to the possibilities.
