An Ironton man faces one year in the county jail for stealing construction materials.
Derrick L. Barker, 19, 2230 S. Seventh St., Ironton, pleaded guilty in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to one count of grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, county prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr. said.
According to court records, Barker allegedly stole more than $5,000 worth of aluminum cornice pieces from Ohio University Southern Campus on March 21.
Barker was sentenced to three years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation, with the first 12 months to be spent in the Lawrence County Jail. He received credit for eight days already served.
He was also ordered to pay $13,000 in restitution, plus court costs.
In other cases heard Wednesday:
– Harold W. "Bill" Flick, 304 S. Fourth St., Ironton, was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit for 77 days served, for breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. He must report to prison Aug. 30. Flick was accused in a June 6 break-in at storage buildings, according to court records.
– William M. Dickerson, 25, of Carter Avenue, Ashland, Ky., was sentenced on a probation violation to enroll in a 37-day program at the Lane House.
– Lisa A. McCallister, 23, 438 Chestnut St., Ironton, was sentenced on a probation violation to report to the Stepping Stones program.
– Frank Sites, 38, Wyanoke Street, Ironton, was sentenced on three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count trafficking in drugs, all felonies, following a July indictment.
Sites will serve a total of three years in prison and pay a total fine of $7,500. His driver’s license was suspended for three years and he was ordered to pay court costs. He received credit for 32 days served in jail.
In court Thursday:
– Baylis M. Green Jr., 39, pleaded guilty to a 1994 receiving stolen property charge relating to an automobile. He is currently serving prison time on a charge out of Lake County. Green was sentenced on the Lawrence County charge to one year in prison, which will be served at the same time as his current prison sentence.
