Portsmouth jumped out to a 27-13 first quarter lead and never looked back en route to an 86-49 win Tuesday over the South Point Pointers.

R.C. Thurman scored 24 points to lead five players in double figures for the Trojans, 3-2. Jeremy Hamrick and Antonio Malone scored 13 each, Greg McKinley 12, and Jason Fleming 11.

Shane Holsinger led the Pointers (1-3) with 21 points and Jarred Perdue added 10.

Malone hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark the Trojans fast starter. Holsinger scored nine of South Point’s total of 13.

"They hit a few threes and we had to come out and then Thurman killed us on the offensive boards," Pointers coach Mark Lafon said. "but we didn’t do a good job of blocking out. We didn’t do a good job handling the ball, and we didn’t play any defense."

Portsmouth led 40-20 at the half and then outscored the Pointers 25-11 the third quarter to go up 65-31.
