COAL GROVE – The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers did unto others unlike they would have other do unto them.

Ironton was guilty of just eight turnovers but forced 35 as the Lady Tigers beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 75-40 Monday.

"That’s the best job we have done taking care of the ball, and by forcing them into so many turnovers we were able to run and we like to run," Ironton coach Kevin Richardson said.

"We wanted to pick the tempo up and try to wear them down. When we play good team defense, we’re going to have games like this."

Jessica Ensor led Ironton with a strong all-around game. She had 26 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and six steals as the Lady Tigers improved to 5-3.

Ashley Hannon scored 19 points, Sarah Herman got 16 points, and Noel Mains had a triple double with 10 points, 10 assists, and 10 steals .

Sara Patterson led Coal Grove with 12 points.

Mains, Herman, and Ensor scored six points each the first quarter as Ironton bolted to a 24-4 lead.

Ensor scored nine points including a pair of 3-pointers the second quarter, but Patterson had eight points as Coal Grove closed the gap to 35-18 at the half.

Herman scored 10 points with Ensor and Hannon got nine each as Ironton doubled up on the Lady Hornets 30-15 the third quarter to build a commanding 65-33 lead.
