Shawn Doyle, former editor of the Times-Journal in Jackson, has been named managing editor of The Ironton Tribune.

Shawn Doyle, former editor of the Times-Journal in Jackson, has been named managing editor of The Ironton Tribune.

"The Tribune is fortunate to have Shawn on board as the managing editor to lead our news team as it begins the task of improving and expanding our local news coverage," editor and publisher Bob Jodon said.

Doyle, 29, is a native of Ross County, where he graduated from Adena High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Rio Grande.

"I’m very happy to be joining the Tribune staff, and I look forward to the challenge," he said.

Doyle began his duties at The Ironton Tribune on Monday.

His goals will center on maintaining an open door policy to the community while guiding the newspaper in its position as the community’s source of information.

"We must let folks know what’s going on in their communities, both good and bad," Doyle said. "I treasure input from readers, and I want the community to feel that the newspaper is a part of the community "

Doyle served as sports editor of the Jackson Journal-Herald and spent two years as assistant editor of the Times-Journal before being named editor there.

Residents of Gallia County, Doyle and his wife, Angela, plan to move to the area with their two sons, Brandon, 7, and Brady, 3 weeks.

"We look forward to becoming part of the Lawrence County community," Doyle said.
