NITRO, W.Va. – And then there were two. The Chesapeake Panthers had two individual place finishes among the field at the Nitro Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

Jimmy Kinder in the 152-pound division and Eddie Neel at 140 were among the top six finishers.

Despite the low number of top-place finishers, Chesapeake coach Phil Davis wasn’t too unhappy. Every Panther wrestler won a match on Friday and returned on Saturday.

"Last year we only took two back on Saturday. Everyone wrestled pretty well," said Davis.

The Panthers host a triangular at 6 p.m. Wednesday with George Washington of Charleston, W.Va., and Johnson Central of Paintsville, Ky.

A junior high triangular will be held as well with Ashland, Ky., and Milton, W.Va.

The Chesapeake Invitational begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. The field includes Spring Valley, W.Va., Ashland, Ky., East Carter, Ky., Prestonsburg, Ky., and Wahama, W.Va., as well as the Panthers.
