SOUTH POINT – If you’re in need of assistance, just turn to Shane Holsinger. The South Point Pointers did.

Holsinger handed out 12 assists to go along with 14 points as the Pointers downed the Rock Hill Redmen 72-45 Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"Shane was the reason why we did what we did. In transition he was dishing off well. And everyone stepped up and scored," Pointers coach Mark Lafon said.

Stepping up to score were Wilson Ehirim, Willie Anderson, and Donte Pennington with 13 points each. Pennington also had seven rebounds and Justin Eaches dished out five assists as the Pointers improved to 9-6 and 4-1 in the OVC.

"Wilson stepped up, Willie and Bryan (Maggard) did a nice job again. And Justin Eaches is as an unselfish a player as you’ll see. He and Brian Cremeans are identical. They play their role and you can’t have a good team if you don’t have guys like that," Lafon said.

Rock Hill (3-10, 1-4) was led by Robbie McClellan with 13 points and Isaac Kitchen who had 12.

David Schug, Rock Hill’s leading scorer, injured his shoulder and played only the first half. He managed just five points.

Ehirim scored seven points the first quarter as South Point jumped in front 15-6. Anderson came off the bench to scored 11 points the second quarter and help the Pointers build a 36-17 halftime cushion.

Using a balanced attack the third quarter, South Point pulled away to a 53-32 lead. Kitchen and McClellan combined for 11 points in the quarter.

Pennington had eight points the fourth quarter to counter Rock Hill’s 7-of 12 shooting from the foul line.

In the reserve game, South Point won 44-28 as Saul Thompson scored 15 points and Quinton Smith 10. Donald Cade had six points to pace Rock Hill.
