According to police records, Daniel S. Jenkins, 23, of 905 Center St., Ironton, and Jeff S. Spencer, 23, of 109 Township Road 1295, Proctorville, were taken into custody during the weekend after they allegedly assaulted and robbed Sandra K. Webb, of 96 Private Road 2560, Kitts Hill.

Webb, 34, was reportedly riding with her husband, Lewis Webb Jr., when the incident occurred around 2:26 a.m. Feb. 3, Ironton police Detective Captain Chris Bowman said.

"Jenkins and Spencer were riding in the front seat of a Sureway cab," Bowman said. "Webb and her husband were riding in the back when the cab stopped at a stop sign at Fifth and Railroad streets."

The two suspects allegedly jumped out of the cab when it stopped, pulled Webb out, assaulted her and robbed her.

"They did serious physical harm to her," he said. "One suspect took her cigarette case, which contained an undetermined amount of currency. Lewis Webb also received minor injuries."

Officials say it is still unclear what sparked the incident, but said other undisclosed charges are pending.

"At this point, it appears an altercation began inside the cab, which led to the assault and incident involving the cigarette case," Bowman said. "The suspects were both apprehended on warrants and later charged with the aggravated robbery."

He said the two fled on foot when they noticed police officers arriving on scene.

Jenkins was arrested shortly after the incident, but Spencer escaped before officials were able to take him into custody.

"He was arrested on Sunday (Feb. 4)," Bowman said. "In addition to the warrant, he was also charged with disorderly conduct by fighting. The money they took was not discovered on them at the time of their apprehension."
