ALBANY – A little here, a little there, and a whole lot from over there.

The Green Lady Bobcats pooled together both big and little contributions as they beat the Racine Southern Lady Tornadoes 55-45 Thursday in the Division IV sectional finals.

"We played real well," Green coach Melissa Knapp said. "Everybody contributed and that’s what made a difference. Everyone but one person scored and that’s unusual for us. We’ve got a lot of people who can shoot the basketball, they just need confidence."

Making the biggest contributions were Megan Tackett and Jennifer Cline. Tackett scored a game-high 22 points while Cline had 20 points and seven rebounds. Samantha Jenkins had 11 rebounds.

Kati Cummings scored 19 points and Amy Lee added 12 for Southern.

"I was real apprehensive going into the game. We didn’t know much about them. There were a lot of similarities. They had two players who did most of their scoring. It was a real nice game," Knapp said.

Cline and Tackett scored five points the first quarter as Green went in front 14-11.

In the second quarter, Cline got five more points to offset five by Lee and the Lady Bobcats went ahead 26-20 at the break.

Tackett knocked down eight points the third quarter as Green extended its lead to 40-31. Brigette Barnes and Cummings had five points each to keep Southern within striking distance.

But Cline had eight points the fourth and she and Tackett each went 3-of-6 from the line to seal the win. Cummings had eight points for Southern.

"If we ever get our free throw shooting down the fourth quarter, we’ll put teams away," Knapp said.

Green will play at Huntington Ross next Thursday in the district game against Saturday’s Adena-Manchester winner.
