Even before we were able to read, our parents took time out of their busy days to read us our favorite stories. As they read to us, we were gradually able to start making sense of those black characters scattered about the pages. We learned to read.

Students at the West Ironton Kindergarten building are at a disadvantage – they have no library. They have no immediate resource for obtaining books to take home and share with their parents. Teachers do not have the luxury to take their students to the library for educational purposes.

That’s all about to change, though. A $4,000 grant obtained by the school will buy some books to stock the dormant library’s shelves. School officials didn’t stop there, though.

They have organized a book drive which will last until April 6. They are asking the community to help the school rebuild its library by donating books. This is a perfect way to make a difference in the lives of young children.

So take a look around your home and see if you have any books you might want to share with the school. Clean out closets, attics or any other place you may have some books stashed. Help the school offer its students a better learning environment.
