The club’s Eddy Test is given each year to the top 25 percent of sixth-graders enrolled at Ironton Middle School and St. Lawrence Elementary School.

Eligibility is determined by Ohio Off Grade Proficiency Tests administered in grade five to Ironton students or the complete composite score of any nationally norm standardized test for St. Lawrence students.

Those students who scored within the top 25 percent were eligible to take the test sponsored by the Child Welfare Club at Ironton Middle School.

The Child Welfare Club paid for lunches for all test candidates, as well as for the test materials and scoring services.

The club named 13 students as recipients of an Eddy Award this year. Each student, and their parents and guests, will be honored at a banquet Thursday, May 10, at 6 p.m. at the Ironton High School cafeteria.
