For the last 25 years, said Juanita Markel, village officials and the Betterment Club have sponsored "Fun Days" in the community. The event, Markel explained, is held to show the clubs appreciation to the community for its supports in charity events.

This year’s event will be no different. "Fun Days" will be held Sunday through Tuesday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Paul Porter Park on Lane Street. Markel said family-centered events will be held each day with gospel music performed by several local groups kicking off the day on Sunday.

Monday night, Markel said, will be a musical tribute to the 1950’s with several music groups performing, including students from Dawson-Bryant Middle School.

On Tuesday, the focus will shift to the patriotic side with music provided by "The Brass Brothers, Lee McCormick and Aaron Fields.

An auction will also be held Tuesday to raise money for the Betterment Club. The auction will be conducted by Coal Grove resident Wayne White.

A fireworks display will cap the event on Tuesday night at 10 p.m.

Vendors will also line the park to sell their wares. Markel said many community groups, such as Dawson-Bryant’s Parent-Teacher Association, the school’s cheerleaders and the community’s little league group will have booths to raise money for their respective organization.
