On Tuesday, the university will host a Red, White and Blue Celebration at the campus at 1804 Liberty Ave. in Ironton.

"It’s going to be like an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration, only on the third," said Carmie Stewart, OUSC library specialist.

From 5 p.m. to dusk, free food, games and other entertainment will be available.

The university is providing a laser light show as soon as it is dark.

Live music performers include Randy Patrick, a Dixieland band and the OUSC Activity Band.

Mr. Wizard will have a show for children, and Ironton’s new fire truck will be on hand for bucket rides. A classic car show and sky divers will also be on site.

At 6:15 p.m., there will be a ceremony to welcome OUSC’s new dean, Dr. Dan Evans, whose administration begins this week.

Those attending will be able to learn more about the university. There will be an open house with campus tours and information from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Also, tables will be set up with information about the university’s degree programs throughout the evening.

This block party-style event may become an annual one, Stewart said.
