Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Pedro man in the wake of weekend home invasion and robbery in Washington Township.
James Bloomfield, 43, of 12246 Ohio 93, Pedro, was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault, Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton said.
Bloomfield allegedly entered the home of an unidentified elderly couple on Friday, July 6, at 10:10 p.m., about 20 miles out Ohio 93 in Washington Township, according to sheriff’s department reports.
An investigation revealed the suspect, Bloomfield, entered the home under the false pretense of having a disabled car and wanting to use the telephone, Sexton said.
Once entering the home, the suspect allegedly struck two victims – a 90-year-old female and a 66-year-old male – and requested money. It’s believed the suspect used a baseball bat, the sheriff said.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time, Sexton said.
The female victim is currently being treated for her injuries at an area hospital. The male victim was treated and released.
Bloomfield will face arraignment on robbery and assault charges Thursday in ironton Municipal Court. He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
