A two car accident in Ironton at 8:53 a.m. sent one city resident to the hospital and left traffic tied up during the morning rush. Dawn Hanshaw, 23, of Ironton, was driving north on North Second Street when she approached the traffic light at the junction with Delaware Street, police reports stated. Reports said Hanshaw thought the light was green and continued traveling down the road when she saw a car, driven by Homer McConnell, 77, of Ironton, turning onto the road from Delaware. Hanshaw told police she thought she had enough room to clear McConnell’s car. Hanshaw was injured in the collision and was transported to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital by SEOEMS. Police said Hanshaw will face a charge of running a stop light. As of presstime, the extent of her injuries was unknown. Traffic on the road was blocked during the morning rush for over a half-hour as Ironton Fire Department crews cleared the roadway of debris.
