Now that the first season of the Ironton High School youth summer basketball league is over, Fighting Tiger head coach Chris Barnes can look back with a smile.
Barnes said approximately 50 boys in grades 3-6 participated in the league, which lasted five weeks, culminating with playoffs the sixth week.
"I was extremely proud of the effort and attitude of all the boys involved and thrilled with the summer program," Barnes said. "I will definitely keep this program going. This is the future of Ironton basketball."
Barnes also was quick to extend his appreciation to individuals and businesses that helped make the league a success.
"I would like to give a special thank you to the many sponsors, referees, coaches, parents and players for all of their help and support," Barnes said. "I look forward to working with you all again next summer."
Members of the championship team, coached by Marshall Tyson, were: Jeremy Adkins, Sam Cramblit, Seth Kuehne, Dylan Melvin, Lucas Morris, Tyler Shoemaker, D.L. Thornton and Taylor Walker.
