Give them the land and they will come.

At least that’s what the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation did. The group donated a 5 -acre tract of land valued at $287,500 and located at "The Point," an industrial park in South Point, to the Ohio University Southern Campus.

Pat Clonch, executive director of the development corporation, said the university will develop a training center at the site to provide for the educational services of the corporations that the development corporation hopes to attract to the area.

Clonch said the educational facility will provide services to the area in "a regional concept" of providing for the educational needs of the area.

Clonch said OUSC will identify the needs of local businesses and provide the educational materials and training needed to "fill it."

Clonch said the development corporation board made the decision to donate the land in August.
