At Christmas time, these words cannot be truer. It is at this time of the year many organizations and individuals band together to extend helping hands to the less fortunate. Some people out there may want to give, but do not know how, so here are a few ideas:

– The Ironton City Mission: The mission accepts food donations for its pantry as well as clothing. All donations go to the needy.

– The Briggs Lawrence County Public Library: At all branches of the library are "Mitten Trees" and "Food Barrels." Anyone making a donation to either can get fines for overdue books waived. All donations are given to charities.

– The Lawrence County Domestic Violence Task Force: The task force conducts a Toys for Tots giveaway. The toy giveaway is for needy families, whose names have been referred to the agency. For more information, call the task force at 532-7284.

– Churches: Many area churches collect food and clothing for the needy. Contact your church or any church for information on how to make a donation.

These are just some of the many organizations conducting special holiday projects. We urge anyone who is able to help these or other groups make Christmas merry for everyone.
