PEDRO – The game started 15 minutes early. So did the Rock Hill Redwomen offense.

With no reserve game, Rock Hill and the Green Lady Bobcats began their game Thursday a little early. It didn’t effect the Redwomen as they jumped out to a big first half lead and went on to beat the Lady Bobcats 63-40 in a non-league game.

"We came out ready to play. The girls have been enthusiastic the past few days and it carried over to tonight," Redwomen coach Amy Hughes said.

Jordan Edwards had a game-high 21 points to lead Rock Hill, now 8-2. Rachel Hartwig scored 19 points and had six rebounds and four steals while Courtney Doughman added 11 points pulled down 10 rebounds, an dhad five steals.

Megan Tackett had 20 points to lead Green (4-5). Meagan Pierce added 10 points.

Hartwig had eight points the first quarter as Rock Hill jumped out to a 22-12 lead. Tackett scored six points to keep Green within striking distance.

But Edwards has six points the second qurater to match Green’s entire total and the Redwomen extended their lead to 36-18 at the half.

Hartwig had six more points the third quarter to help make it a 50-31 game.

Edwards got five points the fourth quarter while Tackett had seven of Green’s nine points.

Green hosts South Webster at 6 p.m. next Thursday. Rock Hill hosts Chesapeake Thursday, Jan. 3, in its Ohio Valley Conference opener.

"Our defense wasn’t too bad. We still need to get better before league play," said Hughes.
