CHESAPEAKE – It’s not called a classic for nothing. Some of the top high school basketball programs in the country will visit Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 19, for the annual National Hoops Classic which will include the Chesapeake Panthers for the third straight year.
The Panthers will play at 3 p.m. against one of the strongest programs in the country, St. Patrick’s High School of Elizabeth, N.J.
Tickets for the event are on sale for $15 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Chesapeake High School principal’s office. Tickets are good for the entire seven-game schedule.
The Wheelersburg Pirates, ranked No. 1 in the first Associated Press Division III poll, open up the day’s games with a 9:30 a.m. matchup against Laurinburg Institute of Laurinburg, N.C.
Wellston plays John Marshall of Moundsville, W.Va., in the 11 a.m. game which is followed by Dublin Coffman and Dudley High School of Greensboro, N.C. at 1 p.m.
Next comes the Panthers game followed by Zanesville and Bonner of Durham, N.C., at 5 p.m., Willard and Montrose Christian of Rockville, Md., at 7 p.m., and Columbus Brookhaven and Midwest City (Ok.).
