GETAWAY – During a special meeting of the Collins Career Center Board of Education tonight, members will review the recent court decision that instructed the board to reinstate five teachers who had previously been laid off.
The board, in late November, laid off 10 employees, saying declining enrollment and reductions in state funding necessitated the layoffs. Last week, Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard Walton ordered the reinstatement of five of those teachers, ruling on two different lawsuits filed with the court in December.
At tonight’s meeting, the board is scheduled to review Judge Walton’s ruling with legal counsel and discuss contract negotiations.
The meeting is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Collins Career Center on State Route 243.
