With three key league games awaiting, the Fairland Lady Dragons whipped the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 63-28 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Fairland, 9-5 and 3-2 in the OVC, trails Rock Hill and Chesapeake by one game. The Lady Dragons remaining league games are at South Point, then at home against Rock Hill and Chesapeake.
"We played pretty well. We’re getting in a stretch where we’re playing at home, and we’ve got a lot of big games so that should help," Speed said.
Jeana Diamond had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jennifer Jones had 12 points and six rebounds and Brooke Fisher got 11 points, eight assists, and six steals.
Cassie Ball had 13 points for Coal Grove.
Diamond scored half her points the first quarter as Fairland took a 16-8 lead. Ball scored six points to keep the Lady Hornets within striking distance.
