It’s been a big week for Roman Fry. And it just got bigger.
After signing a national letter-of-intent Wednesday with Clemson University, the Ironton Fighting Tigers senior linemane was named to the North/South All-0hio Classic high school all-star football game Thursday.
The game will be play on Saturday, June 22, at Crew Stadium off I-71 in Columbus. This marks the second year for the game at Crew Stadium after nearly 40 years in Massillon.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Fry was a first team all-district pick and second team All-Ohio. As a three-year starter at guard and defensive end, Fry helped Ironton post a 31-6 record including a Division IV state runner-up in 1999.
Fry played guard and tackle on offensive as well as defensive end at Ironton. He is projected as a center for Clemson.
Fry will be joined on the South roster by six players who have signed with Ohio State:
Defensive lineman Quinn Pitcock, 6-4, 301, of Piqua; linebacker A. J. Hawk, 6-2, 230, Centerville; defensive end Tim Schafer, 6-5, 250, Upper Arlington; defensive back E. J. Underwood, 6-1, 175, Hamilton; linebacker Bobby Carpenter, 6-3, 237, Lancaster; and defensive lineman Jay Richardson, 6-5, 245, Dublin Scioto.
A complete roster including the North team appears under "Scoreboard" on Page 9.
