A Chesapeake man will go to prison for eight years after being sentenced in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court late last week.

According to Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney J.B. Collier’s office, Buddy Lee Hardy, 18, of 22 Township Road 1042, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; and two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies. For the two burglary charges, Hardy was sentenced to eight years and he was sentenced to seven years for both assault charges. Hardy will serve his sentence concurrently.

In other court matters:

– Danny Franklin McCloud, 1667 West Road, Huntington, W.Va., pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony county of trafficking drugs and complicity to traffic cocaine.

McCloud received a three-year sentence to community control sanctions, intensive supervision, and 30 days in the Lawrence County Jail. McCloud was ordered to report to jail on Feb. 18. If McCloud violates his probation, he will serve 11 months in prison.

– Larry Miller, 23, of 148 Township Road 510 N., South Point, pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine and possession of criminal tools.

He was sentenced to three years of community control sanction, intensive supervision. He will also serve 30 days in the county jail, reporting on Feb. 15. If Miller violates his probation, he will be sentenced to 11 months in prison.

– Douglas Smith, 21, of 292 Township Road 1034, South Point, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated burglary, one count of disrupting public service and one count of felonious assault. The court is conducting an investigation before Smith is sentenced.

– Sherry Sparks, 34, of 847 N. Fifth St., Ironton, will go to prison after she pleaded guilty to one count of felony driving under the influence which violated the terms of her probation. Sparks will serve five months in prison.
